BTW - Bambi says hello

We have had a number of deer sightings over the last few weeks. Logan has started barking to get out as they come across the road from the woods across the street. They then wander up the hill in search of green leafy things to eat, even if means digging through the snow to get at them. Kind of like us going down to the freezer to find something to eat - kind of like that.

Did I mention spring?

How about spring with the feel of winter? Friday found us hunkered down under 5 or so inches (10+ cm) of snowfall. It made for a nice clean blanket Saturday morning, and as the sun shone late in the day there were some great photo opportunities. Still a bit of snowfall, but the sun wants to shine through so we'll see who wins as the day progresses.

Looking for a place to hang your cowboy hat?

Signs went up this week announcing that Boulderwood Stables has gone up for sale. This is the riding stable that has trails throughout the area to the back left of our house. We don't see any of the riders from our house, but occasionally we'll see them crossing over the road on the way to, or from, the trails.

The price? You'd have to ask Martha at Minas Realty that one.

Another sign of spring

Tax season. Jeannette left for Ontario yesterday, to help her former firm through the worst month of the year. She arrived without delay early last night - unlike the last time when she spent half a day at Halifax Airport due to a combination of mechanical failure and weather related problems - and is settling in to the hustle and bustle of the GTA lifestyle.

Signs of spring

After a long snowy winter we are starting to see more and more signs of spring. The lady bug seen above was flying around a window at the back of the house, so you could say that it's a sign that spring has arrived inside the house. The close-up of the bud sprouting on the tree branch amid the melting snow - that was taken outside, so it is a sign that spring has arrived.

Hello again!

You may all be wondering where we've been for the last 6 weeks. The blog has been gathering dust and cobwebs while we were absent, but we're here to say that we are fine and dusting everything off in preparation of spring.

The truth is there have been just too many snow stories and pictures to post. Sooner or later it becomes the same old stuff, and while updates of any nature can be helpful to telling the whole story it did get tired measuring snowfall. At one point in February, after another 15 cm of the 'wonderous white stuff' had fallen and been shoveled and plowed (thanks again Jason) to the sides we were sitting watching something forgettable on TV when Jeannette looked outside and pointed out the new onslaught. We happily said @#&*! and went back watching the show.

Over the last few months we have been busy with work, Jeannette has started a new job in Kentville, and I continue to help people capture memories with Black's. I went back to Ontario for the annual Boys Weekend late February, and had a blast as usual. We are now preparing for Jeannette to spend April in Ontario helping out her previous firm during the key part of 'Tax Season'.

On to spring - Jeannette came running in this morning saying that I had to come outside to see the deer. I grabbed my camera and stepped out onto the porch to find a white-tailed deer enjoying the fruits of our neighbours fall labour. It must have been pretty juicy because she was there for quite a while. Logan was happy to ignore her and hang out with us.
